OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSESSMENT SERIES

This Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS 18001:2007) Standard and the Guidelines for Implementation of OHSAS 18001:2007, have been developed in response to customer demand for a recognizable occupational health and safety management system standard against which it has to be assessed.

OHSAS 18001:2007 is developed to be compatible with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 standard. This standard is now having more importance of “Health”. This standard functions on “Plan-Do-Check-Act” principle.This standard prescribes requirements for an OH&SMS to enable an organization to formulate its policies and objectives to protect its employees and others, whose health and safety may be affected by the activities of the organization.

OHSAS 18001:2007 standard is divided into four clauses. Clause 1 to 3 is general clause which is related to Scope, Reference publications and Terms and Definitions. Clause 4 (OH&S Management System Requirements) is subdivided into 06 sub clauses General Requirement, OH&S policy, Planning, Implementation and Operation, Checking and Management Review.
